I look back at what we've achieved in education. Justine, your guest, was an Education Secretary who was at the forefront of driving change to advance social mobility.

We now have, the children in this country who are the best readers in the Western world. We have moved up the international league tables for literacy, for numeracy and for science. That is a real beneficial difference that millions of people have benefited from.

And when Justine was Education Secretary, as a Conservative Education Secretary, we had succeeded in narrowing the gap between the performance of children from poorer and wealthier backgrounds, even as that gap was growing in our native Scotland. I'm proud of that.
